The Fox And Hounds, Fair Oak
Under new ownership since November, The Fox and Hounds in Fair Oak is simply percolating with new life. The changes in everything from the atmosphere of the place, to the tempting new menu has brought the charm that once was, back to this friendly pub.
From Moulles Mariniere to Mixed Grills, the food range is vast and varied, with something for all tastes and appetites. Very much a ‘steak place’, the pub is becoming renowned for its succulent delights, and even offers a Surf and Turf option. From classic pub favourites such as Cumberland Sausages and Mash or Steak and Kidney Pudding, to global favourites such as Thai Fish Cakes, the dishes change to reflect the seasons. For spring, the specials board is ever-changing, and parents will be pleased to know that there is a children’s menu available. On Mondays senior citizens can enjoy a choice of two courses for just £6.95. As you would expect, The Fox and Hounds offers a fine selection of real ales and an exquisite wine list.
The spring and summer are delightful months at the pub, which really is a sun trap. With the large conservatory and outdoor terrace, inside meets outside and the garden has been furnished with 18 benches - with more on the way! Barbecues are available at the pub, and the new owners have big plans for a children’s play area, hog roasts and even a beer festival. The only similarity to the former Fox and Hounds is the splendid display of hanging baskets, which make this pub look so inviting on Winchester Road.
With it’s proximity to Marwell Wildlife, the pub is the ideal venue for families, dog walkers and even ramblers who need a refuel. The conservatory is available for functions, so ‘come one, come all’ to the new Fox and Hounds in Fair Oak.
